Wild Fire & Beetle Mitigation
- Annual preventive spraying of Lodgepole pine and Douglas
fir to drastically reduce possibility of “beetle hits” on any given treated
tree.
- Removal of beetle hosting trees prior to flight.
- Reduction of beetle host opportunities through spraying,
anti-aggregate pheromones and lethal baiting.
- Fuel wood reduction reduces the risk of fire and reduces
the potential magnitude of fires if and when they do occur. This in turn,
reduces the stress on the trees surviving the fire, making for less beetle
hosting opportunities in a given locale as part of a more comprehensive
approach to mountain pine beetle (MPB) mitigation.
